Description: Systems Engineers are responsible for assessing systems, determining problems, providing solutions to issues that arise; designing, upgrading, and maintaining systems; and brainstorming potential future improvements. SEs will apply systems engineering principles throughout the system lifecycle, manage requirements, develop system designs, coordinate cross-discipline issues, and potentially participate in Integrated Product Teams to enhance national defense capabilities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Analyzes user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
Analyzes system requirements and leads design and development activities.
Guides customers in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies.
Provides technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology.
Incorporates new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations.
Develops technical and system architecture and system design documentation.
Guides system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.
Ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.
Experience and Qualifications:
An active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required.
Bachelor’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline college or university plus five (5) – 20+ years of systems engineering experience. OR Master’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline college or university plus five (5) – 10 years of systems engineering experience. OR PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline college or university plus three (3) years of systems engineering experience.
