Human Resources Generalist

SCDIT is in search of a Full-Time HR Generalist to come join our team in Columbia, MD!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Federal Reporting Compliance
    • Ensure the timely filing of required federal reports, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and unemployment documentation, in accordance with regulatory standards.
  2. Employee Counseling and Performance Evaluation
    • Conduct performance reviews and employee counseling sessions, providing constructive feedback to support professional development.
    • Review evaluations submitted by supervisors to ensure accuracy, fairness, and alignment with organizational goals.
  3. Employee Benefits Administration
    • Manage the entry and administration of employee benefits within the HR information system, ensuring that all records are accurate and up-to-date.
  4. New Hire and Exit Processes
    • Oversee the completion of all new hire and out-processing paperwork, ensuring compliance with legal and organizational requirements.
    • Develop and implement comprehensive onboarding plans to educate new employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  5. Record Maintenance
    • Maintain organized physical and digital files for employees, ensuring the secure storage of documents related to benefits, attendance, and performance records.
  6. Talent Acquisition
    • Proactively source and screen potential candidates by utilizing job and resume databases, establishing personal contact to assess interest and suitability.
    • Conduct initial interviews with candidates to evaluate qualifications and fit within the organization.
  7. New Hire Integration
    • Facilitate the introduction of new hires to the company culture and structure, guiding them through the hiring and training processes.
    • Ensure the completion of all necessary new-hire paperwork in a timely manner to foster a seamless onboarding experience.

  • Enhance Communication: Promote transparent communication regarding HR policies and procedures to foster an informed workforce.
  • Implement Feedback Mechanisms: Create channels for new hires to provide feedback on the onboarding process, enabling continuous improvement.
  • Leverage Technology: Utilize HR technology solutions to automate routine tasks, allowing for a focus on strategic initiatives that enhance employee engagement and retention.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in human resources, with a focus on recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations
  • Preferred experience in a government contracting environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in federal compliance reporting and benefits administration.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficient in HR information systems (HRIS) and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, particularly in record maintenance and compliance documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to conduct effective counseling sessions and performance evaluations.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate reports to inform decision-making processes.
  • Experience in sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates effectively.
  • Understanding of talent acquisition strategies and employee onboarding best practices.
  • Willingness to stay updated on HR trends, tools, and technologies.

At SCD Information Technology, we believe in transparency and fairness in our compensation practices. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 to $85,000. Each salary offer will be determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
